What Causes Palpitations And Shivering After Taking Utodin During Pregnancy?

My wife was prescribed utodin for stomach pains that the doctor said was from early contractions, most like braxton hicks contractions. However, we are not very sure if the pains are contactions at all. Anyways, after taking the tablet, she has shivering and palpitations and strange tingling all over the body. I understand this is a normal side effect to the meds but will it occur even if they were genuinely contractions?

Hello
Welcome to HCM
Thanks for posting your query in HCM.I understand your concern.Utodin is a uterine relaxant drug which consists of ritodrine as its active ingredient. It belongs to beta 2 adrenergic agonist group.
As your wife has got contractions, your doctor has rightly prescribed this drug.

Shivering, tremors and palpitations are the common side effects of this drug as you know.If its given for true or false contractions,it doesnt matter. This side effects will appear and it get subsided once you stop this drugs.

Hope you are happy with the answer.

Thank you
