What Causes Palpitations After Reducing The Dosage Of Thyroid Medicine?
Hi my doctor lowered my thyroid medicine from 75 to 50 can that cause palpitation I have had this for three weeks now I had a ekg done and a holtor monitor done waiting on a echocardiogram my first two test came out normal I have never had this until she changed my medicine.
Welcome at HCM... I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.... Thyroxine does cause increase in heart rate and palpitations....some time its concentration in blood increases that's why its dose needs to be decreased.... Decreasing the dose from 75 to 50 will help you...you need to get your thyroid function tests done after a month so that exact status can be sort out.. Meanwhile stay calm and continue with your prescribed dose.. Regards Dr Saad Sultan
