Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi ... By your history, it feels like your wife is suffering from anxiety disorder along with isomnia. Sustained release alprazolam will help in tackling anxiety and Sobrium(Zolpidem) will help in sleep.
Apart from medications, counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy will also help in anxiety.
Regarding the duration, it depends upon the symptoms. If symptoms subsides, then the doses are tapered and finally discontinued. It should not be stopped abruptly. Hope this helps. Thanks.
