What Causes Painless Yellowish Patches On The Eyelids?

Hello Doc, There have been 2 - 3 yellowish patches on both of my eyelids, its almost a year now. They are painless. Due to hectic work schedule I am not able to see a doc for this. These patches make me so uncomfortable in social gatherings as they are very prominent and gt noticed immediately. I did some thorough study on the internet and found that these are cholesterol deposits. I am 34 years old. Need your suggestion how can I get rid of these marks (with or without surgery). Thanks

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi
I understand your concern
The yellow bumps in your eyes are known as xanthoma.
These are because of cholesterol deposition.
There is nothing to worry about it , as it can be easily removed .
Sometimes it suggests increasedbody cholesterol level.
So , I would advice you to get your lipid profile done and consult an ophthalmologist for the same.
Hope this information helps.
Wish you good health
