What Causes Painful Urination Along With Swelling In Vulva?

Hello! I am a 22yrold woman in a monogamous relationship. Recently, my boyfriend and I had moderately rough sex way too frequently (both cunnilingus and vaginal) over the course of two days. We weren t as hygienic as we should have been- he smokes cigarettes and was having a snack before performing cunnilingus and he didn t brush his teeth, and after all was said and done just fell asleep at some point, neglecting to wash up. Passion overtook us and whatnot... The next morning, we had one last go . During this last round , I bled a little bit. A little worried, afterward I examined myself with a mirror. I had some significant swelling on one side of my vulva, and a few small bumps. When I went to the bathroom, it was excruciating to urinate. My boyfriend said it was likely a UTI, but I ve had those before and this was different. The pain was from the urine passing over the sores. I just got tested about a month ago and I had no STDs, and the chances that my boyfriend found a spare minute to cheat on me in the last month is unlikely. I looked up blisters from rough sex and found a lot of women with very similar stories. I m not worried about it being herpes because I so recently tested negative for it and it doesn t look like the pictures of herpes I ve seen. It makes sense to me that these are just friction sores. The problem is, I can t find anything online with any solution, and it REALLY hurts to pee! How can I relieve the pain and encourage healing? I ve seen several people say to put Vaseline on them but that seems counterintuitive to me; I would imagine it would be better to let them breathe? Thank you for reading and hope to hear back soon.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
It appears that you are having inflammation around your external genitalia due to which you are experiencing the symptoms of painful urination and swelling in the vulva.
Kindly do the following to overcome the symptoms:
1. Wash the area with cold water and rinsing with antiseptic solution like Povidine-iodine twice daily.
2. Use vaginal pH balancing solutions like v-wash regularly.
3. After drying, apply Neomycin with Hydrocortisone cream on the lesions.
4. Take a course of antibiotic Tablet. Metronidazole orally.
5. Take antiinflammatory medications like Ibuprofen after food.
6. Wear loose fitting undergarments and avoid sexual activities till the lesions heal completely.
Take care to maintain good hygiene when you are into such acts in future.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
