What Causes Painful Swollen Eye?

Hi there, yesterday afternoon my eyr felt as if it was bruised very painful when i would squeeze my eyes or just blink, after waking up the next morning my eye is swollen and in alot of pain and getting almost unbearable could you please help me out to figure out what is causing this pain??

Hello, I read about your problem. There are couple of possibilities
Firstly it could conjunctivitis ( red eye) - in which case using antibiotic drops, artificial tears, frequently washing the eyes is what i would suggest.
Second possibility is you could be having a stye - so look is there is any lumpy swelling in your upper or lower eyelid- if this is the case then hot fomentation , oral antibiotics, analgesics along with antibiotic eyedrops is what i would recommend to relieve your symptoms
Another possibility is that you could be having an acute attack of angle closure glaucoma where the space between transparent layer cornea and iris is narrowed and suddenly raises the eye pressure. this would need proper evaluation and immediate treatment at eye care centre as it is an emergency.
