Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just developed a painful swelling in the lower calf( ankle area) but I have not injured myself in that area. Three days ago someone stepped on my foot and caused a painful lump and bruising to toes and side of the foot. same leg as swelling is now showing.
Hello, I have studied your case and I think that it can be due to accumulation of blood in the calf muscles. It can be due to trauma, some time it can be so mild that you did not noticed that. To confirm the diagnosis I would recommend you to get ultrasound examination of the calf muscles. If there is any blood collection than I would recommend you to do hot water fomentation and tablet Brufen twice daily. I hope these steps will help you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. Thanks
