My daughter is having numerous skin outbreaks that resemble a bite of some sort and are in different locations on her body. They swell, become hard and painful. She had one lanced and drained, left open with packing. Prescribed Clindamycin and Hydrocodone. New sites continue to erupt. What could this be?
Hi. As per your case history your daughter is having recurrent furuncles. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
