What Causes Painful Periods?

Hi I am 19 years old and I am having painful periods. I took ponston to relieve pain but after 15 minutes the pain start again which was unbearable so I took panadol. I want to ask is it OK to take both medicines together ?? And some thing that could help to alleviate pain forever ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
Thanks for the query I understand your concern.
The menstrual pain is due to strong contractions of uterine musculature ,,, so as to squeeze out the blood / It can be due to pin point cervix / Pelvic congestion.
Panadol is a paracetamol based pain medicine & Ponston is non steroidal anti inflammatory drug. You can take either of them which ever is useful ... can be taken twice a day after food ( 12 hourly ) Combining both may cause acidity. To have better effect -
- take rest.
- Try sleeping over abdomen / hot fomentation or light abdominal massage.
- Avoid excessive caffeine, alcohol or tobacco.
- tab. Dysmen ( mefenemic & dicyclomine HCL combination ) over the counter twice a day after food,
-doing regular exercises reduce the pain gradually.
- If there is no relief.. visit a gynecologist for further advise
-after first child birth the pain vanishes completely
Thanks
