What Causes Painful Lump In Groin?

Hi! I experienced a painful lump in my groin on Tuesday. By Thursday, while taking a shower the spot had oozed blood and pus. I went to the doctor Friday and she swabbed the area. Unfortunately, the results won t be back until Tuesday. Could this be something serious?

Hello and welcome.

I need more information on the exact location of the lump, and if at all it is in the region where your pubic hair grows then this could most probably be an inflamed or infected hair follicle.

In my opinion this should be nothing serious, but it is best to wait for the results to return from the laboratory. In the meantime, apply a warm compress to the affected region and take sitz baths using epsom salt. Keep the region dry and clean as that is important as well.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
