What Causes Painful Knees And Difficulty Walking?

Do I need knee surgery? I was walking up my stairs last night and my knee popped and I collapsed and now it hurts to walk on. When I bend it back slightly it gives the top of my knee to the bottom a sharp pain. Also the top of my knee cap will move out of place but my other knee will not when I do so. I have not experienced any swelling.

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you probably got sprain knee. Treatment of it is rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen to relieve pain. Icing is soothing. Avoid strains and walking till relief. You can get its x ray to rule out any bony pathology and injury. You can discuss with your doctor about it. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
