What Causes Painful Cracked Toes?

I have a crack under my little toe that hurts with pressure on it but otherwise doesn t hurt or burn or itch. It is red and fleshy and exactly in the crack of the toe. My feet aren t particularly dry and there are no other lesions anywhere. I have been treated for plantar fasciitis this week doing PT everyday where I stretch my toes and feet and wearing a compression sock around that foot. I do swim a lot but never had any problems such as athlete s foot. Any thoughts as to what caused the crack?

Its not necessary that your toe must be dry for the crack to happen. It could have happened in some other way. there çould be many ways. If its oozing, start on antibiotics taxim-o 200mg twice a day.. or if its nt oozing much, start fucidin cream twice a day for a week. After that, keep applying moisturex cream twice a day.
