What Causes Painful Bruising On The Finger?

Hello, I pricked my finger on a safety pin yesterday and it was bleeding. It didn t hurt yesterday, but it hurts today. The whole top of my finger hurts and feels kind of achy, almost like the bone of my finger is bruised. I don t know if I should go to the hospital or not. I m worried. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear thanks for writing to Healthcare magic!!
Please follow this advise:
1) Take tab ibuprofen to reduce the pain and swelling
2) Apply soframycin ointment thrice a day
3) Wash the affected area with betadine solutin
4) Cover the affected area with cotton if possible and avoid contamination
5) Take tetanus injection as soon as possible.
6) Apply ice on swelling and do not scratch
Hope this information helps
If problem persists than surgical drainage of fluid is necessary
Thanks and regards
