What Causes Painful And Frequent Urination Along With Lower Back Pain And Headache?

First started out two weeks ago as painful urination and frequent urge to pee. I took cranberry pills, drank cranberry juice and lots of water and it seemed to go away. Now I m experiencing lower back pain, body aches, throat pain, headache (not sure about a fever but don t think so). I thought std or uti because I just recently was reunited with my husband after 6 months apart and thought my body just wasn t used to him. But I don t have any vaginal discharge and only a change in smell immediately after sex which goes away with shower. (But that is normal for us). My concern is whether it s a kidney infection or something worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

Sounds to me like a possible infection, I would recommend an STD-panel for both you and your husband. Please visit a clinic for the same.

A kidney condition is unlikely and so please avoid all forms of sexual contact in the meantime, until we find the cause for this. Also speak to your husband to find out if he has been experiencing any symptoms since your sexual contact or from earlier.

Best wishes
