What Causes Pain Under Breast While Recovering From Bronchitis?

Good morning,

I had bronchitis for over a month with severe coughing. Although the cough has pretty much gone away, with exception to the the occasional light cough, I now have extreme pain under my right breast. I can feel the pain slightly while just sitting breathing and it worsens when I breath deeply. If I cough, sneeze, laugh or strain in any way the pain in unbearable and very sharp. I also struggle with bulimia and although it has gotten much better over the years, I still slip occasionally and have been purging once a day for the past two weeks. I have gotten it under control and am seeking counseling for my relapse. Please advise what you think this pain might be from. I have a doctor's appointment Monday, but I am worried about going through the weekend without medical attention seeing as the pain is worsening.

Thank you,

Amy

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Coughing can cause musculoskeletal pain.. Coughing actually causes straining at ribs and intercostal muscles.
So vigorous coughing can cause musculoskeletal pain and pain this is the likely cause for your pain.
So apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest.
Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
Take simple painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs like ibuprofen and thiocolchicoside.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1 week.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
