What Causes Pain On The Upper Right Arm Where The PICC Line Is Inserted?

Last July I had a lumpectomy and they removed three lymph nodes from my left side. In October, I had. A PICC line inserted in my right arm a few days. I have been experiencing pain/ burning on the upper part of my right arm since the PICC line. It tends to get worse at night especially if I sleep on that side. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hi,

I have gone through your query.
In your case PICC line was most probably inserted for chemotherapy. Since you started having pain and burning sensation after the line, it is a complication of PICC. It usually causes Phlebitis, hemorrhage, thrombosis or infection.
You may have Phlebitis and thrombosis.
Ointment thrombophob can be applied over it along with NSAIDs like ibuprofen.
