What Causes Pain In Wrist Vein?
Hi...I am a 39 year old woman. I got sleeve gastrectomy 20 days back. Since past 10 days I am getting severe pain in my left wrist vein (where they had inserted a needle for IV but this vein was not used finally). The vein has swollen and has become hard and the pain is unbearable. I showed it to my Doctor 5 days back and he said the pulse is ok so can have a few pain killers. But the pain killers are also not reducing my pain. Please advice.

After puncture of wrist vein your vein in question seems to be infected causing thrombophlebitis.It becomes hard , tender and I palpation it appears like a cord. Use warm compresses, antiinflammatory drugs and antibiotics under the guidance of your doctor.
