What Causes Pain In Tip Of Nose?

Woke up with painful sore tip of nose - approx 1.3cm radius. Slightly swollen and shiny, quite sore to the touch. Currently makes me looks like I ve dipped the whole end of my nose in dark pink paint - very unsightly and embarrassing. I had one of these sore spots a few months ago and it lasted a few weeks. I used to get them when I was 13 - 15 too. I m a 35 year old caucasian woman who eats pretty healthily, but I have a long history of a wide variety of illnesses. Recently experiencing a lot of stress and depression. I ve never known what causes these spots or how I can get rid of them. Thank you so much for your help. :)

That pain on the tip of the nose is caused by a medical condition called folliculitis. That happens when a hair root of the nose get infected.

Trauma or mucosal damage of the nose may lead to an infection of the tisues under the skin too.

Another medical condition especially if you have been stressful lately may be Herpes Simplex. It may start like a pink sore area and then vesicles show up.

Try to use topical antibiotics ointments like eritromycin for a couple of days to treat infection and pain killers like ibuprofen if you feel pain.

If it's herpes aciclovir cream would help.
