Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I remember, when I smoke my first cigarette I have a pain in throat. Even now, I have the same situation.I don't know why. The throat pain occurs when I inhale and exhale smoke. After smoking,I didn't feel any pain.It occurs only during inhaling and exhaling smoke. Will you please help me with this.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain pain in throat while smoking seems most probably due to thermal as well as chemical injury to the throat mucosa due to heat generated by Cigarette smoke, and also due to the harmful chemical particles released with the smoke that are present in the Cigarette.. The mucosa seems to get slightly irritated and inflamed leading to pain during inhaling and exhaling the smoke.. You should stop smoking as it is harmful as it can cause serious complications like Lung cancer as well as oral and gum diseases.. You should also gargle with warm saline solution.. Drink plenty of water and take a soft diet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
