General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi,
thanks for writing to us
usually the thyroid cartilage injuries go unnoticed,
it might be due to a muscular spasm or the minor fracture of the cartilage, which are self curable, if the pain persists for a long time then kindly consult the local ENT specialist, you may feel better with some muscle relaxants, anti inflammatory and analgesic medications, do cold compression and do not yawn louder or scream louder for time being to avoid further injury.
take care.
