What Causes Pain In The Trachea?

I have had a resp. Virus for 2 weeks now. Last Saturday I began feeling better and my high fever102-104 broke. Sunday a low grade fever returned 99-100.4 and I developed a bad case of bronchitis. My doc gave me an inhaler, and an antibiotic for a uti that cropped up with this infection. Now for the past 2 days my trachea just below my Adams Apple right in the dip in my neck hurts when I cough. I am improving a bit, but am afraid of this tenderness being a sign of this infection morphing into yet another illness and week of bed rest.can it just be tender from 2 weeks of terrible coughing?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible, since you have been coughing badly for 2 weeks, that the pain is related to this.

Persistent coughing can cause inflammation/trauma to areas in the upper and/or lower airway..

When your coughing decreases, this should also decrease.

The use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen/naproxen/cataflam, may also help to relieve your discomfort.

I hope this helps
