What Causes Pain In The Pelvic Area When You Are Pregnant?

Hi doctor!! My name is Preeti, age 32 yrs, height 5'3", weight 73 kg. I am 39 weeks 4 days pregnant. My due date is 20 th june. There is a lot of pain in the pelvic area which makes it difficult to turn sides at night and also to walk. I consulted my doctor today and she told me to go for C-section to avoid any complications. But all my reports and u/s are normal. What shud i do? Shall i go for the cesarian or shud i wait for some more time?? I m confused as i want to have a normal delivery. There r no signs of labour yet and no leakage or bleeding. Please help.
Thanx
Preeti

Hi,
I understand your concern
* Pain in pelvis in later months of pregnancy is a normal feature. This is due to-
- The pelvic floor muscles/ ligaments / pubic bone ligament get smooth/ strained due to developing fetus's weight & also down wards decent of fetus as delivery comes nearer.Calcium & vitamin deficiency / digestive problems add to it.
* this pain need not be an indication for C.S.To decide about planned LSCS ,pelvimetry is done which informs about small birth canal./ Plain X ray abdomen along with doctor's judgement about big size of fetal head, less amount of amniotic fluid in uterus/mother's health, Blood pressure, late age pregnancy can form another cause for planned LSCS.
If every thing is normal usually a normal delivery is preffered.
In case during delivery, labor pains stop/ mouth of uterus does not open/ there is fetal distress.. emergency LSCS is done.
* So only wish to have normal delvery does not suffice OR just Doctor's verdict for LSCS is not sufficient to decide mode of delivery. It needs proper reasoning.
* Please get investigated under your doctor's care & then decision can be taken.
Thanks.
