What Causes Pain In The Femur Bone With A Metal Rod Insert?

I have had a metal rod put in to my femur bone 25 years ago.its now causing pain.what should I do..is it to late to be took out.as I have been advised it could cause more damage taking it out after all these years.it was only supposed to be in for 18months as I was a teenager at the time.but never went back.

it is foreign body which can cause pain and cause sensitivity reaction.consult the surgeon who operated for thigh fracture. may be recent xray has to be taken and now can take analgesic like hifenac two times daily and take few days rest.
