What Causes Pain In The Eye Socket?

I have been experiencing on and off pain in my eye socket and behind my eyes mostly on the right side but also mildly on the left. I went to see my local Optomotrist who gave me an extensive eye and vision examination, he said that my eyes are in good health and my prescription for reading glasses is unchanged. He could find no obvious reason for the eye pain. Could I possibly have a vitamin or mineral deficiency. It would be great if someone could shed a little light on this for me.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
You should have gone to an ophthalmologist not an optomotrist. Now you have to go to an eye doctor and go through complete eye examination.Vision to be recorded,IOTto be measured, fundus examination to be done.Refraction is to be done.Any problem detected in this test should be properly treated. You might be having ophthalmic migrane. In that case start taking migranil tablet one time daily and increase the dose upto 6 tablet a day till all symptoms are controlled. In refraction any error detected should be corrected by using proper specs and also near vision correction and cylinderical deffect is to be properly treated by using proper specs.
