I fell down flight of stairs an now experiencing pain under my breast area does not hurt all the time I cough a lot an when this happens I hurts much worse but if no coughing I have good days. When I lay at night quietly to sleep I can hear popping inside my chest but no extreme pain at all unless I have spells of coughing

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. Firstly, you have to detect the cause for the excessive cough, if it is secondary to the fall etc. Secondly, your symptoms suggest that you probably have injured a rib resulting in a crack along with soft tissue injury. I would ask you to see your health care provider for further management. Movement needs to be restricted until healing is complete. Cough should be taken care of. Hope this helps.
