Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having pain in food pipe while swallowing food. Also i feel full after eating very little food. I had had same symptoms year back too, which got over with simple gastric medication. Now it has started again. I also have pain in my mid stomach, around navel reason since 13/14 years. What might be the reason for such pains?
hello, 1) your symptoms are related with GERD. This is a condition in which stomach acid moves upward in esophagus due to laxity of junction between esophagus and stomach. 2) Mist common cause for this is hiatus hernia in which opening in diaphragm from which esophagus enter into abdomen become loose and so upper part of stomach moves in chest. This produces burning pain in upper abdomen/chest. 3) you shold undergo upper GI endoscopy to confirm the diagnosis in addition to evaluate changes in lower part of esophagus. 4) you should continue treatment for acidity to relieve symptoms but once hiatus hernia is confirmed then surgery is required to prevet repeat episodes of symptoms
