What Causes Pain In Leg Between The Thigh And Ankle?

I have knee pain, mostly the right knee, on either side. Pain will shoot (from inside [or looking down would be the left side of my right knee]) up my thigh and down to my ankle. This pain started a couple weeks ago and now at the point where it will wake me out of a sound sleep. I m 53, female, never played sports. I am over weight and 9 years ago had anthroscopy (not sure how to spell that) on my right knee. Been using Aleve/Advil & Ben Gay pads.

After going through your query I concluded that you may be having early osteoarthritis of both as it is common in your age and pain is on medial side of knees. Treatment of it is Diacerine,glucosamine and analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. I think your query get answered.
