What Causes Pain In Arms Below Injection Spot After Donating Blood?

Hi, I tried to donate blood two days ago, but they missed my vein three times and it hurt way more than normal, they had to quit try and I didn't even donate. The entire time since, I have had this painful sensation in my arm, not directly at the injection spot, but rather one to two inches below it. At first it felt like a cut opening up again, but when I took off my bandages, that wasn't the case. It kind of feels like my forearm is being hit with little rubber bands multiple times. I can't extend my arm, in any way, without this happening. Why is this happening and how do I get it to stop?

Hi,
Thanks for writing.

You might have had multiple vein punctures and they missed the vein and there was local pooling of blood below the skin. This can cause superficial thrombophlebitis, a harmless condition but causes pain. You must apply ointment containing heparin over the area and it will heal in few days.
