What Causes Pain From The Heel To The Calf?

I am wondering if the pain and swelling along the tendon from the heel and calf on one leg could be tendonitis. I don t run or do extreme sports. It is swollen and painful enough to wake me up at night and make it difficult to wear certain shoes. I am a woman and 64 years old. I enjoy hiking and do PIlates twice a week. If this is tendonitis, what kid of treatment should I try?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The pain you describe could be cause by the following medical conditions:
-Tendinitis
-Soft tissue infection
-Osteoarthritis
-Stress/strain
-Others
I will suggest you take a pain/anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen, use a topical pain gel like voltarene and rest well.If the pain persist, you may see your Doctor for examination and objective management.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
