What Causes Pain From The Elbow To The Hand?

I am a 54 year old white male, 221lbs, 6 feet and I have a shooting pain that starts at my right elbow and travels about 2 inches down toward my hand. It just started and is happening very random but seems to be increasing in frequency. I have not done any exercise that would have induced this. Any idea on possible cause?

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
You seem to have irritated ulnar nerve that travels through a facet ( ulnar notch) at the back of elbow joint... may have hit/ pressed on something unknowingly... that has caused pain in the nerve itself at an elbow & the part of hand supplied by it.
Hot/ cold pack, Pain medicine over the counter like Ibuprofen 400 mg ( for average weighted person ) twice a day & vitamin B12 pill twice a day will help it. Avoid exertion of the hand.... otherwise consult doctor.
