What Causes Pain From A Deformed Rib?

Im a 19 year old male. I was born with a deformed rib on my left side. Im scared to go to doctor because its not consistant. The pain comes about once a month but has come more frequently as I got older. When it comes its a vary painful ache no mater what way I sit but I noticed if I apply pressure at the bottom and up under the rib it brings the pain down. Any idea what this is?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
hi,

as you mentioned about the deformed rib, there is a chance that the normal anatomy and biomechanics of respiration will be disturbed.

you need to get an x-ray done to check what exactly is wrong with the muscles.

you can take advice from the pulnonologist and visit a physical therapist who will help you gain strength in respiratory muscles by performing breathing exercises and you will avoid future pains too.

with the grace of I wish you a speedy recovery
