What Causes Pain Below The Ear On The Back Of The Neck?
hello, Below my left ear on the back of my neck is achy; I ve had this for two days- don t recall ever having this before. Pain level is a 1 (low) but continuous. I just started running again this past weekend, don t know if something like this could be associated with that. I am a male, 45 yrs old
Hi User! Pain at the back or sides of the neck may be due to ligament sprain or muscle strain as a result of wrong neck position while sleeping or having the pillow positioned wrongly below the neck, or getting the neck ligament or muscle pulled while exercising, etc. The pain in such cases can be persistent, localised, aggravate when neck is moved in certain ways depending on the muscle or ligament involved. It usually gets better with rest and may get absolutely fine in a week or so. Some may consider over the counter pain killers like paracetamol or ibuprofen if the pain bothers. Seeing the doctor if the pain is severe or there are any other symptoms associated to get examined would be recommended.
