What Causes Pain Around The Navel?

I have pain near my belly button whicw is very sore and feels like a deep lump when pressure is applyed. I am feeling nauseus and am getting no sleep due to feeling of unease in stomach. I am a very fit and active 64 year old female. Am very concerned that this could be bowel cancer as I am getting bouts of diaorrea.
