What Causes Pain And Swollen Lymph Node In The Neck?

I have been having pain in the front of my neck along each side of my esophogas. It is much worse when my head is leaning back. My right gland is slighty swollen but I do have a sore throat or fever. I ve never had pain in the front of my neck like this. I m not sure where to start.

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your short description and I can understand your concerns.

All the symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of a minor condition called pharyngitis(sore throat). It might be caused streptococcal infection in most of the cases.
Your lymph node is swollen and tender which indicates nothing but infection around nearby area, throat in your case.
You don't need to worry as it can be effectively cured ith antibiotic therapy.

I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things as a first line management:-
(1). Antibiotic therapy is mandatory,I would suggest levoflocxacin or amoxcalv for five to seven days.
(2). If you have pain or fever, simple analgesics/antipyretics like acetaminophen(paracetamol) or ibuprofen can be used.
(3). Levocetrezine or other newer antihistamines can be tried for symptomatic relief.
(4). Do saline gargles or gargling with an antiseptic mouthwash.

Most of the cases resolve with this management,if symptoms persist despite all these get throat swab and basic blood investigation done for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
