Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My fiancé was diagnosed w gout in his foot two weeks ago. The swelling has been up & down as well as the intense pain. A few days ago swelling was better as well as the pain but redness on big toe & across the foot started turning blueish purple & he started to have pain again. What does this mean? He has scheduled another appt w his doctor but it s not for a few more days. Anything he can do at home besides elevate, take prescription anti inflammatory meds & ice down? Well never mind!!!! Very disappointed that I was sent to a page where they are asking for money! We have put out enough money for this condition & willl b putting out more!!! Your advertisements should pay for this. Not someone who is in severe pain trying to get some help!!!
Dear If I would have been the treating doctor ,I would advise for a uric acid level in the blood first to rule out Gout,as the symptoms suggest. please dont worry as this is quite common in many a cases we see.It can easily be treated with topical, oral analgesic, antiinflammatory. However usually we add the allopurinol (zyluric) after seeing the uric acid levels and diagnosis. Please stay calm and mean while do also take a note of a less protein in his diet and less pressure on the legs as we move on with our diagnosis and treatment. take care hope this helps most welcome for further queries
