What Causes Pain And Swelling In Chin And Neck Post Tooth Extraction?
I had a tooth, number 31 on the lower right side out. I was given a refinement of ibubrophen and vicoden as needed and have had to take both. My main concern, is the swelling 36 hours post op, has spread to my lower pallet and is visible under my chin/neck as well. The whole area hurts. Its like my tung is swelling up, or just under it. Normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling under the chin and tongue 36 hours after extraction of the tooth can be probably due to infection in the extraction area or can be due to inflammation caused due to tissue trauma secondary to tooth extraction if the extraction was extensive or surgical.. So much of swelling generally does not occur if it is a regular extraction.. Consult your dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help.. You can be given a course of antibiotics and painkillers + serratiopeptidases along with doing warm saline gargles and cool compresses over swelling for faster resolution..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
