What Causes Pain And Pressure In The Middle Chest?
I am having a pain in the middle of my chest feels like something is stuck there and someone is squeezing it - the only way to relief it is burping and or passing gas. I have had my heart checked that is fine but can not figure out what is causing the pain. They have referred me to see a GI but it is getting worse and can t get into a GI for a few weeks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to Gastroesophageal reflux ( GERD ). For this I would suggest taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) for long term like one month. You can also take antacid syrups like gaviscon. Take light meals at short intervals. Avoid carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and smoking. Avoid spicy, fried and fatty foods. Raise the head end more with extra pillows while sleeping. Take your dinner at least 2 hours before bed time. If there is no improvement after month then consult a gastroenterologist and do fibrogastroduodenoscopy to find out the exact status.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
