What Causes Pain And Lump In The Groin?

I felt a sharp sting in my groin area 48 hours ago. I went to bathroom to check for a bug and found nothing. 48 hours later I have developed a red area about the size of a quarter with a hard sore knot. Should I go to the doctor (it is Friday night)

Hello,

I can understand your concern for the lump in the groin region.

After reading your query it seems to be related to an inflammation of hair root or oil glands. It causes inflammation around the hair follicle and oil glands and can cause lump like feeling along with sharp pain at the affected site.

As you have sharp stinging pain so it is better to take a proper suggestion and treatment form the doctor. You might require a course of antibiotic to treat the condition earliest.

For the time being period you can take an anti-inflammatory tablet such as paracetamol or diclofenac till you meet your treating doctor.

All the best.
