What Causes Pain And Jaundice Post Gall Bladder Removal?

I had my gall bladder removed via laparoscope in 2/14 and an ERCP to open the sphincter the next day. Did well but in 6/15 stones recurred. Pain, jaundice and elevated enzymes, another ERCP to remove sludge. After that procedure I went home and had no further pain or issues until this past Wednesday 3/9/16. Same thing occurred. Pain, jaundice, elevated enzymes, fever also this time. Got admitted. I am now 48+ hours past the third ERCP and am still not feeling well. I did so well the last time - no nausea, felt back to normal almost immediately. This time am queasy, little appetite, some discomfort in surgical area. Is this normal? Or how long is it normal to feel unwell. Everything I research seems to indicate I should be feeling better than I do. I will call the GI doc tomorrow for an appointment in two weeks and my internist in one week. My question is, based on how I am feeling, should I see them sooner or is this just expected recovery.

Brief answer : If you do not experience a apigastric pain , or fever , than you can wait untill tomorrow to see your GI doctor.

Detailed answer:
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your question in HCM.
Is normal to feel queasy, with loss of appetite, and to feel a little discomfort, also after ERCP. Compared to your last ERCP , this time may have been a more difficult procedure and the doctor may have worked more, or it may have taken longer to end. So this may explain why you feel worse this time, comparing to the first two procedures.
Eventhough , if your pain grows up in intensity or in case of high temperature, you have to see the GI doctor earlier.
Another thing that you need to be aware: if you will have black color evacuations (faeces)in high quantity, you have to see the GI doctor earlier too.

Hope this is helpfull for you.

Kind regards,
Dr. Juarda
