What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation On The Tongue?

the pain is my tongue, it always feel like it is burnt i have dentures and i dont eat anything spicy at all but yet when i eat anything it burns sooooo bad that i literally close my eyes and ball up fists because it hurts so bad and drinking is like almost impossible even water went to the dentist who said that he didnt see anything and so he sent me to a specialist who told me that i thrush which i didnt agree ive had children who had thrush but at any rate i took the nystatin and swished around in my mouth 4x s a day but it burned soooo bad wow, now here it is 3 months later and this still hurts really bad i dont know where to turn i am at the point where i limit myself to just 1 meal a day and i try not to drink anything almost i have pica i craaavveee ice all day but i have had to curtail that bcuz even having ice in my mouth burns help me please i am a diabetic

Thanks for the query..

From your explanation it looks like a severe case of Burning Mouth Syndrome and as you are diabetic, it can be a cause for it..
Other causes can be dry mouth, deficiency of Vitamin B 12, stress, acid reflux, side effects of medicines [if you take any] etc..
So first of all you should consult an Oral Physician and get a thorough clinical examination done so that the underlying cause can be ruled out, this is because burning mouth is a symptom due to any underlying problem..
As of now you can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lidocaine to relieve burning sensation..
You can take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Start taking multivitamins daily..
The Physician can advise you anti depressants as they are helpful in relieving such symptoms when other remedies does not work..
