What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation On Right Hand Knuckles?

I have been experiencing some pain and swelling in my right hand in the knuckle area near the base of my fingers between the pointer and index fingers. I will get a jolt of pain almost in the vein it feels and sometimes a burning sensation that goes all across the knuckle area. I do have hypothyroidism. Also about 2 months prior I did jam my finger on that same hand pretty good, it hurt but no swelling at that time. Had X-ray and everything appeared normal.

Nerve related problems can cause the pain and burning that your are experiencing. Abnormal function of the nerves is called neuropathy.

It is possible that you may have injury to the nerves in the area.

This likely occurred when the finger was hurt 2 months ago. It can take months, in some cases years , for nerves to be repaired.

There are medications that can help with nerve related pain. These would need to be prescribed by your doctor.
eg lyrica, gabapentin, tegretol, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, cymbalta
