What Causes Pain Along The Jaws While Suffering From Trigeminal Neuralgia?
Good afternoon, I was diagnosed some time ago with right-sided trigeminal neuralgia and am experiencing a serve flare-up. Pain radiates along my jaw and across my cheek. I have some on the browridge. I am also have subclavicular tightness/pain on the right (where the supraclavicular muscle meets the collarbone). Pain radiates up and down my neck. I also have pain down my right arm and in my right hand. Can these be related or is it far more likely that I am dealing with more than one issue. I am surviving two primary cancers in 2012 and 2013: breast and ovarian and I have some bulging cervical neck discs but the MRI does not show that they impinge nerves. Any thoughts?
Yes, the pain in jaw that radiates across the cheek is commonly due to Trigeminal Neuralgia that is disorders associated with Trigeminal nerve which is commonly known as the nerve of face.. However as the branches of Trigeminal Nerve are confined to the face therefore pain in neck and arms is not due to it. It can be due to other causes and most common is nerve compression and Cervical Spondylitis can be one cause.. So for this consult a Neurologist and get evaluated as it has nothing to do with the Trigeminal Neuralgia.. Get a latest MRI SCAN done.. For Trigeminal Neuralgia S it is already confirmed you can be advised neurotic painkillers like Carbamazipine, Gabapantin, baclofen etc.. If conservative treatment does not improve the condition then surgical correction like Microvascular decompression, gama knife radiosurgery etc can help..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
