What Causes Pain Above The Hip Bone?

I have light pains in my right side just above the hipbone and just below the bottom of the rib cage. During the day they don t bother me much but at night the prevent me from sleeping soundly. In the morning I have a hard time getting out of bed because stressing my muscles makes me hurt about 8 (on a scale of 1-10). Once I am up and walking around the pain subsides and I can maneuver again for the day unless I am forced to strain my back muscles. I have noticed that I have less pain after I had a bowel movement. I have bowel movements infrequently (once a week to twice a week) and often less than that . I try to eat prunes to clean myself out if it is too long between bowel movements or when I feel bloated and uncomfortable. But the longer that I have not had a bowel movement the more I get the pain in my side. I have tried physical therapy with little success. It helps with other issues I have but does not seem to help with the issue that robs me of my sleep. I would like to get back on a regular daily schedule with my bowel movements but so far all that I have tried does not seem to work. Do you have any suggestions that I might try to get me on the way to a more regular routine? Do you need me to tell you more about my health history?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
dear
as we see we have a chronic constipation problem.
This is the major cause of the pain that we are experiencing and tge sleeplessness too.
have you tried of laxatives and enema?does the pain subside if we have a better bowel movement some day?
in such cases we usually advise for a better dietary habit after knowing the work habits of the patient.
for time being let us concentrate more on fibres and fluids, with a daily routine walk or exercise.
More over we also need tohave a general health check up done with your physician with some routine blood tests before trying for any analgesics .

hope this helps
welcome for further queries
