What Causes Pain Above The Buttocks?

I have an elderly friend who has chills and pain just above the left buttock. Not sure if he has a fever as he lives alone. He recently had some kidney problems due to diabetes. He has an appointment with his doctor tomorrow. In your opinion, should he seek immediate attention?

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

Pain above left buttock with chills may be because of kidney stone with or without urinary tract infection.

He can have tablet with combination of analgesic and antispasmodic like acetaminophen and mefenamic acid twice a day for pain relief.
Advice him to drink plenty of water and have adequate bed rest.
For time being, you can do this and take the earliest appointment of urologist/general surgeon.
USG abdo pelvis and urinanalysis may needed for establishing diagnosis.
Antibiotic course may be started for next 7-10 days to cover up the infection.

Hope I answered your query.
