What Causes Oral Thrush And Burning Sensation In The Tongue?

I am having trouble with my tongue. It I white and it has a burning or stinging feeling. I have had two rounds of nystatin and I am taking extra strength probiotics. I have excellent oral hygiene. This all started 1 year ago after being on back to back antibiotics over a period of 7-8 weeks for a sinus infection, tooth that needed a root canal and then surgery. I have never had any issues with my tongue or thrush before. I am in excellent health and have no other symptoms. I eat well, do not drink or smoke. any suggestions? Thank you

Hi..
Thanks for the query.

Long term.intake of antibiotics can cause certain useful bacteria to get killed along with harmful ones and due to lack to resistance certain opportunistic organisms like yeast starts to overgrow cause Oral Thrush..
You need another round of antifungal medication like Fluconazole, Itraconazole for at least 15 days..
Along with it Clotrimazole lozenge should be sucked and do Nystatin mouthwash gargles..
Continue taking Probiotics and clean your tongue gently..
For burning gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Avoid spicy foods...

Hope this helps..

Regards..
