Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Please first consult the dentist then general physician and get your check up done.So that your problem can be clinically identified, depending on numbness since how long, any other symptom or lesion in the mouth.
Please stop smoking. Maintain a good oral hygiene.
Any other habits like tobacco chewing, drinking alcohol or eating betel nut can be the causative factor.
Consult the doctor asap.

hope this will sort your query.
take care

Dentist Dr. Lizabeth Sloane's  Response
Hello,
Smoking is a. greater concern for cancer and you should be checked by your dentist. Smoking is an irritant and can cause surface changes to tissue with diminished sensations. Can you examine for any sores, different looking tissue and swelling? The effects of swelling and a spreading infection can cause numbness. A dental exam can detect infections which require treatment and prescriptions such as an antibiotic. A stroke or paralysis would give you numbness. Are there any signs on your face or smile? More details would help differentiate possible causes.
Rinse with warm salt water. Medications to reduce inflammation include Tylenol, Advil and Benadryl. These may offer relief. It is important to keep well hydrated, follow good nutrition, have balanced vitamins without deficiencies and good daily dental habits. take additional vitamin B to help improve healing response. Stop smoking and avoid irritants including alcohol.
You should see both your physician and
dentist for routine exams. You may require additional testing for a diagnosis and may require basic blood testing. Thank you for your inquiry. I am glad to offer assistance.
