What Causes Numbness In Toes While Running?

Hello. My teenager noticed that sometimes when she runs, or when she s out in the cold for a while, her big toe and 3rd or 4th toes turn yellow on the bottom, and she feels like they are get numb. It usually happens when she is running. She is thin and fit, and on a healthy diet generally.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query

When the temperature is low, the body tends to reduce the blood supply to the distal parts of the body like toes, fingers, ears, etc. This causes change in color and different symptoms like pain, numbness, etc can set in. Please, let her dress warm before going out i cold weather to prevent this. Stay relaxed as this is an adaptation of the body to the environment and not a disease or disease process.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
