What Causes Numbness In The Limbs?

Hi, One fine night my father got up to go to toilet, and he shouted us saying he can t lift his right leg and next morning we took him to a near by doctor who gives Ayurveda medicines to treat paralysis, who gave a complete course for thinning the blood (injections & tablets) and reducing cholesterol levels, after few months of no effect as told by my father, we took him to another doctor a neurologist, he gave course of medicines to control BP and reduce cholesterol, however, after 3 years of continuous medication, he still complain of numbness in one hand and leg. We got his CT scan done but no blockage/clouting its normal, the recent lipid profile is normal. He is on strict diet of less/no oil food, no red meat and chicken and fish one in a while that s it. What possibly be the problem? or its just physiological problem.
