Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i had an IV for an MRI at 9 am, a nerve was hit and now my arm has no feeling and I cant move it - they checked for a hematoma, said there was none, and suggested we go sit in the ER for a while- how long does it normally take for movement to return - should I really go sit in the ER
Inadvertent injection has caused nerve injury. It will resolve after few days. Swelling or edema causes pressure on nerve leading to loss of function of nerve. Advice 1. Give rest to your arm for few days 2. Injection Dexona (dexamethasone) intramuscular every 12 hours for 1st day then tablet Dexona 0.5 mg every 12 hours per oral for next 7 days 3. Injection Neurobion Forte (vitamin B12) intramuscular daily for first 3 days then tablet Neurobion Forte – one tablet daily per oral for 2 months Thanks
