Hi, for a few months now, I ve felt a slight numbness in my neck, close to my windpipe to the left of my right jawbone where a wisdom tooth would come in. On the bottom of the right of my jaw there feels to be an enlarged vein there as well that is quite numb itself. About 2 weeks ago, I was staying at a friend s house for a few days and my neck was in pain in that area and behind my right tonsil, it felt as if I had a sore throat feeling there but after I got home and relaxed a day or so, it was fine and has been fine ever since. After I got home, I tried scheduling a doctor s appointment and couldn t get anyone to see me so I went to the emergency room and a doctor checked (no scans) my lymph nodes on my neck and my sinuses and checked me for strep. He gave me a perscription for Tylenol and sent me home. I m still feeling the numbness in the same spot and occasionally some very, very slight ear pain for small moments, then it s gone but it s very rare. I m in the process of finding a physician to go and see but a general guess or any information would be helpful. It is also worth mentioning that I was a smoker about 2 weeks ago and have now quit since the pain began.
